Welcome
Welcome to Fruit Hills Winery and Orchard! We are David and Michele Muir and we are opening a new farm winery in Northern Indiana with the help of our son, Nathan, and daughter-in-law, Brittany. Our winery is located 2 miles south of Bristol on State Road 15 on the Judson Fruit Farm. The farm has been in David’s family since 1852 where it began producing fruit around 1898, and we continue growing fruit to this day.
Our newest adventure is the vineyard we planted this summer, where we have planted several varietals such as Traminette, Riesling, and Cabernet Franc. The first crop of these grapes will be ready to be harvested in the fall of 2012. Traminette has been designated as Indiana’s signature wine and is just one of several regional favorites we are offering. This fall, in addition to harvesting and marketing our apple crop, we have also been busy crushing and pressing grapes to make wines that will be showcased as our 2010 vintage starting late next year.
You will be greeted warmly when you visit our brand new building in the scenic fruit hills of Bristol. We have an attractive, and inviting tasting room where you will have the opportunity to sample all of our different wines. You may also step outside onto our large deck, or front porch, and enjoy the view.
Our Story
We believe that when one door closes another is opened. Our journey of opening this winery started in 2009 on a family trip to Mt. Dora, FL for a wedding. During our time in Mt. Dora we stopped in a boutique winery that produced wines in a small room in the back of the shop. David had just lost his job of 15 years and made the comment that maybe making wine for others is something he could do since he had been making grape and fruit wines for many years for our family.
That idea stuck with us and upon returning back to Indiana, our son, Nathan and daughter-in-law, Brittany, encouraged us to make our dream into a reality and they became an integral part of starting the winery. Our farm has been owned for generations by David’s family and we hope to be able to pass on our winery to our children and grandchildren.
We are thankful for all of our friends and family who have helped our dream come true. We invite you to come visit us and taste the simple goodness Fruit Hills Winery has to offer.
Do you’ll have membership fee and if so what is the price and what does being a member consist of. Thank you in advance
